Woman Holding Pregnancy Test

What Can I Expect?

At A Woman’s Place Medical Clinic, we believe it’s essential for you to have all the information available before you make a pregnancy decision. Our primary goal is to equip you with accurate information, resources, and support as you navigate the complexities of an unplanned pregnancy. Our dedicated staff is committed to helping you navigate the next steps and provide a safe, confidential space during your appointment.

How Do I Check-In?

We recommend arriving 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment and bringing your driver’s license or another form of ID with you. During your first visit with us, you will be asked to fill out some digital intake forms on an iPad in the lobby. These forms will allow us to understand your needs so we can determine the best ways to support you.

Pregnancy Test Services & Options Counseling

Next, you will be asked to provide a urine sample for analysis. One of our skilled nurses will perform a medical-grade pregnancy test that measures the hCG hormone (human chorionic gonadotropin) in your urine. We will confirm the results within a few minutes, and if your test is positive, will provide you with a verification of pregnancy. Our medical team is on hand to answer any questions you might have during the appointment.

Following the test, you will have a consultation with one of our experienced staff members to explore your pregnancy options. With any pregnancy, there are typically three potential pathways you can choose from – abortion, adoption, or choosing to become a parent. Our main priority is ensuring you are well-informed and empowering you to make a decision that best aligns with your situation.

Understanding Ultrasounds

Our medical team will evaluate whether you qualify for a same-day Limited Obstetrical Ultrasound. However, it is common for us to schedule a second appointment for this. We recommend an ultrasound to confirm viability by making sure the baby is in the right place in your uterus, detecting if there is a fetal heartbeat, and determining how far along you are in your pregnancy. The ultrasound provides us with crucial information and assists you in making an informed decision about your next steps.

Next Steps

It’s not uncommon to leave our clinic with new questions on your mind. Please know that we are with you every step of the journey. Our team will proactively reach out to offer support, answer any lingering questions, and provide additional resources as needed.

You matter, and we are here to walk alongside you. If you think there is a chance you might be pregnant, don’t hesitate to contact any of our locations to arrange a free pregnancy consultation appointment at any one of our four Tampa Bay locations.
