WHAT TO DO NEXT - MAYBE ABORTION?

If you’re pregnant, you should have a medical consultation and diagnosis before making any decisions about your body and your future. A Woman’s Place Medical Clinic offers free ultrasound diagnostic services to help you through your pregnancy decisions.

Is my pregnancy viable?

You may have a positive pregnancy test, but that doesn’t mean your pregnancy will result in a full-term birth. 10-25% of all clinically recognized pregnancies will end in miscarriage. Having an ultrasound will help determine the viability of your pregnancy.

How far along am I?

An ultrasound can determine gestational age. You’ll need to know this to determine the type and cost of your abortion procedure. Only an ultrasound exam can accurately determine gestational age.

It's important to know the answers to these questions to make an informed pregnancy decision.

If You’re Considering Abortion

There are different types of abortion, based on the stage of the pregnancy. Although A Woman's Place Medical Clinic does not perform or refer for abortions, we provide free education and free ultrasounds to determine the type of procedure you would need.

Types of abortion procedures include:
Methotrexate (MTX)
Abortion Pill/Mifeprex/Mifepristone (RU-486)
Suction Dilation and Curettage (Suction D&C)
Dilation and Evacuation (D&E)
Dilation and Extraction (D&X)/Intact Dilation and Extraction (IDE)
Intracardiac Injection
Prostaglandin

During your visit, you will find out more information on the different abortion procedures and what options are available. We can also provide accurate information about emergency contraception, frequently referred to or known as the Morning After Pill or Plan B.

What are the risks of abortion?
Abortion is a medical procedure that will affect your body and have emotional and mental risk factors. Abortion risks are difficult to fully outline because post-abortive women rarely talk about terminating their pregnancy. Still, we know several long-term physical risks of abortion occur over the lifetime of a woman. It is also common to have emotional and psychological complications after an abortion. The intensity or duration of these concerns varies depending on the person.

If you are considering an abortion, our clinic can provide testing to ensure you do not have an undiagnosed STD/STI, which would put you at a higher risk of developing Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). PID can lead to serious complications, including infertility, ectopic pregnancy, abscess formation, and chronic pelvic pain.

The decision to have an abortion should not be taken lightly. Making an educated and informed choice means you won’t be surprised by any part of your abortion procedure and recovery.  While our clinics do not perform abortions, we can provide accurate information and support. We have no financial gain from your decision.
